Beneath it all… I am human…, explores the notion, that what is concealed is often revealed. The stop-motion video illustrates a Siachen soldier’s clothing being systematically and mysteriously removed to reveal his bare body. The meticulous unzipping and unbuttoning are reminiscent of the laborious task that each soldier endures daily; in a climate where conditions are life-threatening.

This act reminds us that beneath the protective gear there exists the vulnerable inner layer of the physical body and psyche. Beneath it all… I am human…, also attempts to question the identity of this invisible entity, that is systematically peeling away every item of clothing. During the process of undressing, details of the soldier’s body are exposed, which may appear to liberate him from the conflict and his identity as a soldier. These contrasts are not without peril as an exposed body would soon perish in the cold.
