“Do we have a choice?” #1, is a marionette that is made of a Siachen soldier’s clothing, which is suspended from a wooden crossbar by strings. The suspended flexible sculpture also focuses on the contrary notion that soldiers are not machines to be manipulated for the purpose of war and politics. The work also draws our attention, to question and guess, the identity of the invisible and anonymous puppeteer, who controls every action of the soldier.
